Preservation fizz mocktail
Our most popular cocktail at our restaurant Rail was the Preservation Fizz. Made with our Preservation Strawberry Balsamic Jam, this was a light and not too sweet drink that was perfect for any season.
For those of you cutting back on cocktails after the New Year or not drinking at all, this is a great and easy mocktail recipe to try!

The Recipe
Preservation Fizz Mocktail
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp Preservation Strawberry Balsamic Jam
- 3/4 ounce lemon juice + some to rim the glass
- carbonated lemon lime soda like sprite, san pellegrino or 7 up (you may also use club soda if you want the mocktail less sweet or try other clear sodas like ginger ale)
- Combine the dried basil and sugar on a small plate
- In a small, shallow bowl, pour in enough lemon juice to dip the rim of the glass in (using two rocks glasses or one pint glass).
- Once you have dipped the rim of the glass in the lemon juice, gently press it into the basil sugar mixture to coat the rim.
- In a shaker cup, shake Strawberry Balsamic Jam with lemon juice and lots of ice.
- Pour mixture into the glass/glasses (including the ice).
- Top with more ice to fill the glass/glasses and add the lemon lime soda.
- Stir & enjoy. Cheers!
